Trees are wonderful. They not only provide shade but fruit, lumber, and protection as well as many other benefits.

I still remember when I was about 5 years old, going to take a look at a house in the country. After moving into the house we found that although they had planted a tree line, there were no fruit trees on the property. The people that had lived here had been here for over 40 years! One of the first things that we did was plant fruit trees. Although we knew that we would not get fruit for a few years, we realized how much of a benefit having fruit trees would be.

Lately we have been planning on building a new house and one of the main items that we are going to use is lumber. We are going to put the house near the tree line for protection from snow, wind, dust, etc. We also like to play, explore and imagine in the shade of that helpful tree line. It is a privilege to have trees therefore we are indebted to care for them.
