Life Story: By Mercy

There once was a girl named Christy. One day she was walking to the park with her dog. She was whistling a happy tune when suddenly she stopped and looked up. There, looking at her was a very rich, but unhappy looking lady, on her balcony.

Christy asked, “What’s wrong?”

“Nothing,” the lady retorted quickly.

“Oh well, Okay, then,” the girl said as she continued down the sidewalk.

“Wait one second,” the lady yelled down to Christy.

The girl watched as the lady disappeared into her house. The lady soon came out of her house and then the girl asked if they could sit down. After they were seated on some chairs on the porch, the lady burst out, “My husband died a week ago and I just can’t find a reason to live.” As Christy listened to the lady’s story she realized that the lady needed Christ in her life badly.

Once the lady was done, she asked, “What are you going to do about it?”

The lady answered, “I don’t know. I just don’t want to live anymore.”

Christy explained, “Life is important. God says that your life is supposed to be like a prize if you have your trust in Him.”

The lady said, “I just don’t understand how even all the money I have can’t buy me the thing I want the most- happiness.”

There was a pause and the girl said, “They say money can’t buy happiness. Now I know it’s true. Of course I knew it before but…” then her words turned to a mumble as she continued her thought.

Christy continued on to explain how people should respect the life that God has given them and no matter what, they should understand that God loves them, always has & always will. The lady asked, “Do you think I could come to church with you this Sunday?”

“Of course you can,” Christy answered. “And maybe my parents could help you understand more about life and God.”

“Thanks so much for explaining all this to me. Maybe I could help others with all the money God has given me,” the lady decided

“I can’t think of a better thing to do with the money and life you have been blessed with,” Christy exclaimed!
