Saved By a Boy: Based on The Lion and the Mouse: By Mercy

A long time ago not to far away from here there was a mighty kingdom called: Popetal. Now you may think of this as a silly name, but that did not matter to the people that lived in the kingdom. One day the king was in his royal carriage, and a young boy ran across the road, right in front of the carriage.

Before you could exclaim: my mad king ate meat, the king bellowed: “What did you do that for? Don’t you have any respect for your king? Explain yourself immediately or I’ll have you thrown into my dungeon!”

There was a moment of silence as the boy tried to catch his breath “Pardon me your majesty, I offer my deepest apology’s for any harm I did. And all I was trying to do was get to diner on time. You see, my mother has told thousands of times me never to be late, because she worries so,”

But that was all the boy could say because he was rudely cut off by the king. “She will have more to worry about than you being late my boy, guards seize him!” the boy was pulled roughly away by two guards.

As he was being pulled away he shouted “Please, Sir, if you let me go I will never forget it. Someday I might repay you by saving your life.”

The king roared with laughter, and told the guards to bring the boy to him. “It would be a shame to put such a funny, young boy in my dungeon. Yes, I think I will let him go. Release him now!” the king ordered.”I will sleep well tonight knowing that you are, “watching me." The boy hurried home as laughter echoed through the streets.

The next day the king went riding by himself, and was deep into a large forest when his horse suddenly heard a noise, and reared up dropping the king and raced away. The young boy was also in that very same wood, and hearing a faint cry in the distance, quickly ran to see who, or what was hurt, ran to the place where the king had fell. The king told the boy what had happened, and that he was pretty sure that he had broken his leg. The boy ran off to town. A couple of hours later the king was safe in the castle. The boy soon asked to see how the king was doing, and of course the king said yes. The king told the boy that he was a hero, and that he was very grateful for all the kindness that the boy had shown.

The boy agreed, ”Yes, your majesty it sure is funny to think that I could be of so much help to the king.”

“No act of mercy, even small is ever wasted.”
