“Get up!” The command came as the line of horses galloped out of the yard. Peter and Jock had decided to go and find a group of soldiers that they had seen crossing the river. They were going to surprise (and hopefully subdue) them. As they neared the place, Jock took half of the group off the trail they would be the backup group.
As a scout came up he said, “Over the hill their coming this way. Come on.” Peter quickly told his group plan and then galloped forward. As they came to the top they yelled and came down the hill at a terrific speed. As they came close a round of shots came and the line stopped, and then charged. But another round came from the enemy. Peter yelled for retreat and they ran hard back. As they rode into camp they were surrounded with girls that knew the news was bad. Half of Peter’s group had been killed. Jock had come and surprised them and killed the rest.
As Peter and Jock sat in their hut they said, “We should have posts so we don’t all get killed.”
“Agreed,” said Jock. John went out and called those who could build it to get ready. Quickly they started to build so they could get it done and as soon as possible. One day a shot came from the East tower. One shot meant that somebody was coming!
